New York City is about to get one of its staple venues back.
Considering the recent nightclub closures in NYC, the reopening of one of the city’s premiere venues may restore the faith of some locals. In the past couple of months Cielo and Output each announced that they would shut down. On the last day of the year, however, Webster Hall revealed plans to resume business in 2019.
Webster Hall’s final event took place on August 5th, 2017. In the time since, it has undergone renovations as part of AEG Live and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment‘s acquisition of the venue in April. On the last day of 2018, their management teased the space’s long-awaited reopening.
The history of Webster Hall dates all the way back to 1886, but its most recent version started after the Ballinger brothers bought the space in 1992. Artists spanning countless musical genres have performed there – including EDM acts like Skrillex, who played the 2017 closing party.
Webster Hall’s management have yet to announce an official date for the venue’s grand opening at the time of writing.
