EDM's biggest representatives pulled off wins at the ceremony.
Zedd and The Chainsmokers were two of EDM's big winners to take home Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) in their 2019 edition. The awards ceremony took place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas and were hosted by Kelly Clarkson.
While the undisputed winner of the night, Drake, took home a record twelve awards from the show, dance music's representatives had an impressive showing as well.
The Chainsmokers nabbed both Top Dance/Electronic Album and Top Dance/Electronic Artist, both of which pitted them against a deep pool of talent. They bested Calvin Harris, Kygo, Marshmello, and ODESZA for the Top Dance/Electronic Artist award. Meanwhile, their 2018 album Sick Boy topped Clean Bandit's What Is Love?, David Guetta's 7, Kygo's Kids in Love, and Major Lazer'sMajor Lazer Essentials in the album category.
Zedd's 2018 hit "The Middle" with Marren Morris and Grey also took home honors winning the Top Dance/Electronic Song category. Competition from mainstream artists was particularly fierce in this category as DJ Snake's"Taki Taki"with Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B; Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa's "One Kiss;" Marshmello and Bastille's"Happier;"and Tiësto and Dzeko's "Jackie Chan"with Preme and Post Malone were also nominated.
Dance music's representatives showed there is a lot to be excited about within the genre right now. Check out the full list of Billboard Music Award winners here.
