Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Canceled for 2019 Edition

Minutes from an OkeeChobee County Commissioner's meeting have surfaced.

After its future hung in the balance, it has been confirmed that Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival will not take place in 2019. Following back-and-forth speculation, minutes from an Okeechobee County Commissioner's meeting have confirmed that it will not return to the Florida town next year.

In September, the absence of a 2019 announcement fueled speculation about the gathering's fate before it came to light that the promoter, Soundslinger LLC, had laid off all of its employees. A newly surfaced document has confirmed the suspicions.

Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival has taken place annually in Okeechobee, Florida since 2016. The first edition billed such household names as Bassnectar, ODESZA and Kill The Noise. The 2017 and 2018 installments supplemented the festival's EDM offerings with rock and hip-hop acts like Kings of Leon, Wiz Khalifa, Slightly Stoopid and Khalid.

It remains to be seen whether Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival's 2019 cancellation will prove a temporary hiatus or a permanent discontinuation.
