New Fyre Festival Documentary Coming to Netflix in January

Soon you can watch Fyre Festival unravel from the comfort of your couch.

Next month, Netflix subscribers will get a chance to experience the Fyre Festival saga themselves in the form of a new documentary chronicling the disaster. Titled Fyre, this documentary will give viewers a chance to see how the event devolved from “the most exclusive festival the world has ever seen” to one of the most infamous flops in live music history.

Fyre will feature firsthand accounts from the festival's organizers and will be produced by Vice Studios, Library Films, and Jerry Media.

Fyre Festival had promised luxury accommodations and some of the biggest artists in music, but upon arrival, festival goers were treated to little more than tents and cheese sandwiches. It was scheduled for two weekends in April and May of 2017 in The Bahamas, but never made it past the pre-party.

In the aftermath of Fyre Festival, numerous lawsuits were filed against the organizers for everything from fraud to breach of contract. In October, co-founder Billy McFarland was sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in the festival's demise.

Fyre premieres January 18th on Netflix.
