Kompakt details ‘Total 18’ compilation

The storied Cologne-based label Kompakt has announced its annual compilation, Total 18, will be released on Aug. 24.

Compiled by Michael Mayer, Total 18 will be available as an eight-track double-LP or a 25-track double CD/digital package and features a mix of released and unreleased productions from the likes of John Tejada, Gui Boratto, Kölsch, and more. Notably, the mix also features the Dixon edit of Vermont’s 2017 downtempo delight, “Dschuna.”

Mayer compared the compiling process of everything from downtempo to techno as “going through one’s photos at the end of the year. Memories come back to mind from moments when a particular track made its first impression on me or how the same track would become a highlight in my DJ sets at some point.”
