The 50th anniversary of Glastonbury Festival is already sold out.
This weekend, tickets went on sale for the 2020 edition of Glastonbury Festival, which will mark its 50th anniversary. In only 34 minutes, tickets to the Pilton, Somerset, U.K. gathering sold out.
135,000 tickets to the festival had gone on sale, according to The Guardian. This is not the record time for tickets selling out, however. In 2015, they sold out in only 20 minutes. Organizers announced that a ticket resale for the 2020 edition will take place in April.
Glastonbury's inaugural 1970 edition (then billed as Pilton Festival) was largely influenced by the hippie movement and featured headliners like The Who. By the '80s, the festival became an annual event – save for years like 1991 and 1996, when various obstacles led organizers to temporarily shelve the event.
The 2020 edition of Glastonbury Festival will run from June 24th-28th, 2020. No lineup details have been announced for the event at the time of writing.
