CHVRCHES Slam Marshmello for Working with Chris Brown and Tyga

"…Working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately endorses that behavior."

Not long after Marshmello, Chris Brown and Tyga released their long-awaited collaboration, "Light It Up," the former artist has been publicly denounced for working with the latter two. CHVRCHES, who previously joined forces with the masked producer on "Here With Me," have spoken out on his choice to work with the two rappers.

"We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello's choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown," reads a joint statement tweeted by the band. "We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately endorses that behavior. That is not something we can or will stand behind."

As we've pointed out earlier, Marshmello's choice in collaborators does highlight a double standard in how the EDM industry regards those accused or convicted of abuse. Brown was most recently arrested on suspicion of aggravated rape in Paris, but his record of violent behavior extends all the way back to 2009. Tyga came under fire in 2015 for dating a then-17 Kylie Jenner.

Marshmello has not publicly responded to CHVRCHES statement at the time of writing.
