"My therapist and doctor are recommending that I take some time off," wrote Carnage.
The rigors of constant touring and releasing have begun to force out some of EDM's most well-known acts. Carnage may be next on the list. The Guatemala-born, Los Angeles-based DJ/producer has opened up about how mental health struggles may temporarily halt his music career.
In a post made to his Instagram account, Carnage (real name Diamanté Anthony Blackmon) revealed that various stressors have prompted him to take a break from music. "Having close friends pass from this stuff really scares the fuck out of me," he wrote. "My therapist and doctor are recommending that I take some time off to get my head back in the game."
Blackmon's statement has much in common with the one tweeted by deadmau5 after his recent social media meltdown. Last week, the latter artist revealed that he's been making progress but will stay off social media for the immediate future. While both DJ/producers have a penchant for ruffling feathers in the EDM community, Blackmon's behavior hasn't found its way into as many headlines of late.
Carnage has not disclosed whether he plans to take a break from touring, music production, social media or some combination of each at the time of writing.
