House and techno are taking over Ultra.
Ultra Music Festival's celebrated return to Bayfront Park in Miami will also mark a major first for one of its house and techno brands. Not only will the 2020 edition of the gathering see RESISTANCE Island adapted to its longtime home – the Carl Cox Megastructure will also take place over three days for the first time in the event's history.
As per usual, Ultra's organizers shared the announcement alongside a hype-heavy promotional video. Fans have voiced concerns that the Carl Cox Megastructure expanding to three days will mean that Armin van Buuren's A State Of Trance stage may not return, although the addition of The Cove for RESISTANCE may make room for both. A spokesperson on behalf of Ultra did not immediately respond to EDM.com's inquiry on the matter.
Ultra's debut edition in 1999 took place at Collins Park in Miami Beach, but for most of its lifetime it's taken place at Bayfront. The Miami City Commission voted down the event's contract to return in 2019, making for a tumultuous one-off event in Virginia Key. After organizers announced plans to take their business outside the city, however, officials reopened talks to lure them back.
Ultra will take place from March 20th-22nd, 2020. For more information, visit the event website.
