Ahead of the Apex: The Remixes release, EDM.com is proud to premiere 12th Planet's rendition of "Wake Up."
Building upon an Excision track is no easy task, but you can count 12th Planet among the few who are up to the job. The former artist's Apex: The Remixes album comes out tomorrow, July 23rd – but you can listen to the latter's reimagining of his 2018 Sullivan King collaboration, "Wake Up," today.
"Wake Up" exhibited a more melodic iteration of the Excision (real name Jeff Abel) sound, and the 12th Planet (real name John Dadzie) remix beefs up the source material with more heaviness, dissonance and attitude. While the verses are kept somewhat intact, each drop hits with a wave of energy sure to send any crowd into an uproar.
Dadzie has been a fixture of Abel's annual bass music gathering Lost Lands Festival since its 2017 inception. In October he will accompany the likes of Downlink, Liquid Stranger, Kayzo and SVDDEN DEATH for the event's 2019 edition.
Pre-save or pre-order Apex: The Remixes on Spotify or Apple Music here.
