Beyond Wonderland 2019 Recap

On March 22nd, Insomniac returned to the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California for its 9th annual Beyond Wonderland, and boy did they return. Like many of the headliners planning to attend, we were beyond hyped to experience this two night magical experience in SoCal featuring a star-studded line-up of more than 90 artists, 5 stages with hidden areas, new art installations, and tons of performers you come to love and see at an Insomniac event. Not only were the people in attendance excited for the weekend, but artists like: SayMyname, Audien, and Jay Robinson, quickly expressed their excitement to be performing at a SOLD-OUT show of more than 110,000 headliners.

As we mentioned, the lineup for this festival was fresh! What makes any Insomniac show so unique and a favorite to the dance/rave community is its diversity in music representation on the lineup. You had new artists showcasing their talent with a stellar performance that left you with a long lasting impression. Alongside, veteran artists putting on a “rock-concert” performance while allowing fans an early glimpse to some exclusive new music from their upcoming projects.

Some of the sets that stood out to us for day one came from: 13, Jay Robinson, Salvatore Ganacci, Timmy Trumpet, Armin van Buuren, Rezz and Flux Pavilion. Day 2 was just as impressive and provided us with some show stoppers of its own, like: Audien, SayMyName, Lady Faith, Moksi, Ravell, Deadmau5 and even YehMe2.

Insomniac never holds back and Pasquale Rotela continues to push the envelop with the production and design. As you walk onto the grounds you are quickly transported back down the rabbit hole to a psychedelic world full of hidden surprises, comfortable lounges, VIP treatment, and 4 massive stages. This festival we got to see the exclusive Insomniac Passport area that allowed passport members their own designated entrance and their own exclusive lounge full of accommodations.

With more decor, side attractions, and the energy of the crowd this show felt like an EDC (Electronic Daisy Carnival) equal. The whole night we followed Alice on her wondrous journey through the various stages, like the Queen’s Domain, Mad Hatter’s Castle, Caterpillar Garden, Cheshire Woods, and the Beyond Wench. Each night saw some of the top brands in the scene hosting their own stage, like: Bassrush, Dreamstate, Basscon, Insomniac’s Records, Rotation In and even mau5trap.

With a lot of “first’s” occurring at this year’s Beyond, many experience both Deadmau5 & Rezz closing out the show for both nights on the MainStage. Said the sky announced his upcoming performance at the Hollywood Palladium on July 5th, 2019. The powerhouse music label, mau5trap hosted their own stage in Cheshire Woods for the first time ever. While tech fans were treated with a debut set from Testpilot as well. And for those of us that were lucky enough, we caught a surprise Drum & Bass set from Kaskade at the Beyond Wench Art Car. Yeah you read that correctly, a Drum & Bass set from Kaskade.

Beyond Wonderland 2019 simply exceeded all our expectations with delightful surprises, memorable performances from all of the artists, VIP treatments, and a weekend full of beautiful people. We’ve seen the show grow and evolve in one year alone, that the vibes & experience have equaled to that of EDC. This is one festival we definitely encourage everyone to experience and we can not wait to be back next year! We’ll see you at the next one.
